What Happens If You Don't Wash Your Makeup Off Before Bed?
I don't mean to scare anyone, but sleeping with your makeup on is like *the* biggest cardinal sin of skincare. You might think everything's all fine and dandy when you're 18 and drifting off with your falsies on every weekend, but your skin will soon start to show the impact of sleeping with your makeup on.
Why? Our skin goes through it's most important regeneration phase overnight - shedding dead skin cells and repairing damage. Makeup prevents that natural exfoliation process and can congest the pores, so you may find your skin looks duller or you get a breakout in the following days.
Also, pollutants builds up on your skin throughout the day which can lead to accelerated ageing and/or an impaired barrier, which I certainly do not want.
What To Prioritise When You Just CBF:
I do feel slightly ill at the thought of dropping my 7 (occasionally 8-9) step skincare routine down to just 3 steps, but if you ever find yourself in the position of having to prioritise or need a good place to start with skincare, then I’ve got you covered.
When you find yourself unable to commit to a full routine or unsure where to begin, just remember: cleanse, hydrate and protect.
