6 Women Share the Most Expensive Beauty Product They Bought in Lockdown

If you've ever wanted to peek into the shopping carts of Adore Beauty staffers, you've come to the right place.

Because who doesn't love a good perve into other people's spending habits?

We asked six women to share the most expensive beauty product they bought during lockdown, and why the splurge was 100 per cent worth it.

From a 1L bottle of luxe shampoo to a vibrating 24k gold facial massager (yep, really), here's what they said.

P.S. We know these bougie beauty buys aren't the kinds of everyday purchases most of us have the financial means to make on a whim. But we can dream, right?

1. Aesop Rozu Eau de Parfum 50ml, $200.

What: Aesop Rozu Eau de Parfum 50ml

Why it was worth the splurge:

"I’m not normally a ‘rose’ kind of gal, but this got me in the very way that walking into any Aesop store makes you want to spend all day in a bougie linen robe reading old editions of Monocle. Exactly the kind of activity to make you feel good in a drawn out Melbourne lockdown!"

"I especially like that it’s not your typical rose scent - less sweet, more masculine and muted (from the Myrrh, Musk and Sandalwood base and middle notes) - and being an EDP made for a warm, woody lingering scent to see me through the day. It’s a splurge more than other Aesop fragrances due to the premium nature of rose extracts but I love how unique, unusual and distinct it is." - Danii, Senior Category Manager - Skincare & Wellness.

2. Sodashi Brightening Marine Mineral Mask 50ml, $120.

What: Sodashi Brightening Marine Mineral Mask

Why it was worth the splurge:

"Believe the hype! This mask has a lot of fans at Adore Beauty and I now understand why. Everything about it is luxurious - the smell, the texture, even the jar. But what really impresses is the results. My skin looks instantly brighter and clearer after use. This mask made my skin, and my soul, feel the love in lockdown." - Samantha, Junior Category Manager - Skincare & Wellness.

3. Hot Tools Black Gold Volumiser, $149.

What: Hot Tools Black Gold Volumiser

Why it was worth the splurge:

"Honestly, I bought this hot brush after beauty editor and Beauty IQ Uncensored podcast host Joanna Fleming wrote an article about how she uses it to get a salon blow dry at home. Bang, add to cart. If you can't afford or justify the expense of an air styling tool like the Dyson Airwrap, using this on damp hair will get you the same bouncy, swishy hair for around a fifth of the price. Love me a bargain! But be warned, it sold out so you've gotta be quick." - Amy (me!), Senior Editor.

4. Giorgio Armani Crema Nera Instant Reviving Mask, 5 pack for $348.

What: Giorgio Armani Crema Nera Instant Reviving Mask x 5

Why it was worth the splurge:

"Spending $348 on a 5-pack of face masks is an indulgent investment and a half, but let me tell you, the Giorgio Armani Crema Nera Instant Reviving Mask is the Maserati of sheet masks. They aren't dripping in liquid like your traditional sheet masks. Instead, they're packed with the most hydrating cream - you can literally feel it infusing moisture into your skin."

"I leave them on for as long as I can before gently rubbing the excess cream in for maximum results. My skin has never felt so soft and plump, so put on your robe and pop on this lush mask for the ultimate luxurious at-home facial. You're worth it." - Sam, Category Manager - Makeup & Fragrance.

5. Hunter Lab AURA Facial Sculpting Tool, $298.

What: Hunter Lab AURA Facial Sculpting Tool

Why it was worth the splurge:

"I have a confession to make... Call it being time-poor, scepticism, laziness (or all of the above), but skincare tools have never really been my thing. However, lockdown does funny things you. Enter, the Aura Facial Sculpting Tool."

"This bougie 24k gold-plated, high-performance at-home device is solar-powered with a gentle microcurrent designed to stimulate the skin’s natural metabolic process and facial muscles for a smoother, firmer complexion. The Y-shaped design perfectly aligns with the natural contours of the face, ensuring maximum comfort and ease of use, whilst the massage ball enables gentle control around the more sensitive eye area. If this tool can assist in keeping those inevitable fine lines at bay, what a game-changer this will be!" - Mia, Category Manager - Skincare & Wellness.

6. Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore Shampoo 1000ml, $225.

What: Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore Shampoo 1000ml

Why it was worth the splurge:

"If I'm going to drop some serious dollars on hair care, it better be like liquid gold and give me my best hair days, ever. That is exactly what Oribe’s Gold Lust range does. The mega 1L bottle of the Repair & Restore shampoo costs more than a week's rent for some, so it's absolutely a splurge."

"That said, it's one of my favourite shampoos because not only does it nourish my hair with ingredients like Cypress Oil and Argan Oil to leave it feeling super clean and banish the dryness, but it also has UV protection to prevent my colour from fading. So it's basically an insurance plan for your hair colour. And it smells divine, which gave me a lovely morning pick-me-up during lockdown." - Kristy, Hair Category Manager.
