The Skincare Products To Prioritise When You CBF

We all know the feeling. A long day at work, one too many drinks with the girls when you said you were just having one, and unexpected sleepover perhaps?

There are just certain times when washing your face and doing a skincare routine is just not in the cards right? WRONG. There is ALWAYS time for a routine or at least to wash your face - but I get it, you don't always have time to layer 4 serums, apply a mask and do your eye cream.

What Happens If You Don't Wash Your Makeup Off Before Bed?

I don't mean to scare anyone, but sleeping with your makeup on is like *the* biggest cardinal sin of skincare. You might think everything's all fine and dandy when you're 18 and drifting off with your falsies on every weekend, but your skin will soon start to show the impact of sleeping with your makeup on.

Why? Our skin goes through it's most important regeneration phase overnight - shedding dead skin cells and repairing damage. Makeup prevents that natural exfoliation process and can congest the pores, so you may find your skin looks duller or you get a breakout in the following days.

Also, pollutants builds up on your skin throughout the day which can lead to accelerated ageing and/or an impaired barrier, which I certainly do not want.

What To Prioritise When You Just CBF:

I do feel slightly ill at the thought of dropping my 7 (occasionally 8-9) step skincare routine down to just 3 steps, but if you ever find yourself in the position of having to prioritise or need a good place to start with skincare, then I’ve got you covered.

When you find yourself unable to commit to a full routine or unsure where to begin, just remember: cleanse, hydrate and protect.

First up, cleansing. This is the first cleansing oil I had used and it did not disappoint. As the oil hits your face, it's hard to believe its cleansing your skin as the oil feels so moisturising. This is best used as a pre cleanse and then followed by your preferred cleanser. But in the name of saving time this can be used by itself. Begin warming the product between your palms before massaging into your skin and then adding water to emulsify. It effectively removes all traces of makeup without stripping the skin.

After cleansing, if you are to do anything, adding moisture is right up there. Hydrating the skin is essential to keeping the skin healthy and youthful. This serum addresses hydration, dullness and redness all in one. It contains Licorice Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Green Tea Extract and Vitamin C to support and protect the skin - plus it'll alleviate any discomfort and tightness after removing your makeup.

Yep. sorry. You thought because this was a simple routine that you could push the SPF to the side? Much like cleansing is a non-negotiable, SPF is not something I’m willing to let slide. If you're having a CBF moment in the morning, you can't leave the house without your SPF. This one doesn't even feel like sunscreen due to its lightweight, non-greasy formula, and it's enriched with antioxidants that fight and protect against environmental damage.
