3 Reasons This Skincare Product Has Thousands of 5-Star Reviews

Alpha-H Liquid Gold Alpha-H Liquid Gold

Alpha-H Liquid Gold has got to be one of the most talked about skincare products out there.

It was the first chemical exfoliant I ever tried, and because of that, it holds a special place in my heart.

Over the years, this Aussie-made product has amassed a cult-like status for its ability to deliver seriously glowy skin, at a price your wallet will love.

More than 1,500 5-star reviews from Adore Beauty customers agree, but how does Liquid Gold work and will it suit your skin?

Let's get into it.

What Is Alpha-H Liquid Gold?

The thing with Alpha-H Liquid Gold is that while, yes, it’s a very hyped-up product, the hype is genuinely real.

It's been a cult product for so many years now, and hundreds of bottles are sold every minute.

Alpha-H Liquid Gold is a liquid chemical exfoliant you can swipe or dab onto cleansed skin at night for a fairly instantaneous glow.

Its secret? It was one of the first products to put glycolic acid on the map.

The lightweight fluid formula contains a relatively strong 5% glycolic acid, so yes, it can be quite spicy.

It has a relatively low PH of 2.8, which basically means it can work harder and is better-tolerated by most skin types.

This is why you will feel like you wake up with super glowy skin when you use this, because products with a low pH are closer to the skin’s natural pH.

It’s also formulated with soothing liquorice root to help fight pigmentation, as well as glycerin, which is an amazing humectant that helps maintain moisture balance in the skin.

Here are 3 reasons the exfoliating treatment has so many 5-star reviews:

  • Almost instant improvement in skins brightness and glow.

  • Helps correct sun damage and pigmentation.

  • Promotes collagen production and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines.

What Does Glycolic Acid Do?

OK, but what is glycolic acid? It’s one of my favourite skincare ingredients, and I turn to it in-clinic all the time.

For those unfamiliar, glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (or AHA) that chemically exfoliates dead skin cells to reveal brighter, fresher-looking skin.

Unlike other alpha hydroxy acids, the molecular size of glycolic acid is one of the smallest.

This means it penetrates deeper into the skin, leading to better results, and faster.

You can learn more about how glycolic acid works in this YouTube video below.

How To Use Liquid Gold.

Glycolic acid is quite potent, so it's not always suitable for every skin type.

People with skin sensitivities should tread with caution (or just use Alpha-H's new gentler version of Liquid Gold... you can read our Generation Glow review on Beauty IQ here).

If your skin can handle it, exfoliating with this will help fight pigmentation, dullness, and the early signs of ageing.

This is because as our skin cell turnover slows down with age, it can play into a whole host of skin concerns like dullness, pigmentation, dark acne spots, breakouts and, of course, ageing.

You can incorporate Liquid Gold into your skincare routine by applying to a cotton pad, reusable cotton pad or splashing the liquid into your palms, before swiping over cleansed skin.

It is best to use Liquid Gold in the evening, like a toner, after you cleanse and before your serums, moisturiser and/or oils.

I would avoid using it on the nights you are using a vitamin A or any other resurfacing product, and always follow with a broad spectrum sunscreen in the morning.

You may experience a tingling sensation when you first swipe it on, which is totally normal and it does go away relatively quickly.

Experienced active skincare users can use Liquid Gold daily (I think every second night is adequate), however if you're new, start slow with one or two times a week, and see how your skin goes.

You can also use this chemical exfoliant on your body!

I love to use chemical exfoliants like this on the heels of my feet, which sounds wild but it works so well at exfoliating them! Trust me.

You could even use it to exfoliate rough areas like knees, elbows or armpits before fake tanning.

Alpha-H Liquid Gold Reviews.

As the headline of this article suggests, Liquid Gold has more than 1,600 5-star reviews from Adore Beauty customers.

Here are just a few Liquid Gold reviews...

"I can't live without this product. It definitely improves my skin and really does what it claims. I've been using it for years and have purchased it about 5 times now. I use it twice a week at bedtime before moisturiser." - Emma.

"I really love this! Was a bit unsure, but for me it really did live up to the hype. It was a bit tingly the first few uses, but buffering with a moisturiser did the trick. Found my skin to be really smooth and clear the next morning, and over all just felt great!" - NessG.

"I always find myself coming back to this product! I notice a difference between use of physical and chemical exfoliants and find a huge difference between condition of my skin when I wake up in the morning." - Teagan.

"It's become a staple in my routine. I use it three times a week (depending on the state of my skin). It tingled when I first started using the product, but doesn't anymore. It has cleared my pimples, whiteheads, rosacea and smoothed the texture of my skin. It's worth every dollar." - Nikolina.

Is Alpha-H Liquid Gold For You?

Honestly, Alpha-H Liquid Gold is a great product.

It’s the original glycolic acid chemical exfoliant, and one I’d recommend if dullness, age management and pigmentation are concerns.

A word of warning, though... once you start using Liquid Gold, it's near impossible to stop.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
