Absolute gem - 20-09-2018 by

This product is a stand out in The Ordinary's range. Sure it feels a little grainy (but grainy goodness!) and stings for a second (particularly if you have broken skin or a recently-squeezed pimple), but it works. My skin is bright and glowing the next morning and I've noticed a massive difference after using it consecutively. Just make sure you wash your face thoroughly the next morning - it leaves a residue smell. But you won't regret it!

Effective, but texture is unpleasant - 20-09-2018 by

This product has helped improve the appearance of my skin, although I find the consistency and texture not very pleasant to put on. It feels somewhat grainy and I wouldn't wear it during the day with make up, even though the product recommends using it in the day or night. I just use mine at night.

Not sure.... - 20-09-2018 by

This is one of The Ordinary products that I'm not sure about. I find it very oily/greasy on my normal skin. I have resorted to using a small amount in the morning before I go to the gym, on top of the HA + B5. I find it does 'wake up' my face in the morning.

Fantastic - 19-09-2018 by

Fantastic brightening product that is so cheap! This products really plumps the skin and adds a radiant burst. I mix it with my day moisturiser as it does tingle a little until your skin adjusts. I've had no side effects or redness and I am now on my 3rd bottle.

Great product!! - 18-09-2018 by

This product definitely refines and brightens the complexion....the grainy texture is not that a big issue given the results it produces...i love this product and would really recommend it !!

Terrible texture but effective - 18-09-2018 by

This product is excellent in terms of effectiveness, especially considering its low price point. I found it helped to reduce scarring and brighten up my skin tone very quickly. Unfortunately the texture is awful and will most likely prevent me from repurchasing. It pills extremely easily and I end up with little balls of it all over my pillow.

If you do purchase this product, some tips that I've followed to get it on with as little pilling as possible are: apply Hyaluronic Acid first to prep the skin, shake the tube before squeezing out only a tiny bit, pat (don't rub) it on to your skin, leave for 20 minutes and then apply a thick-ish moisturiser (not a serum) to help absorb the powder left on your face.

unbelievable - 17-09-2018 by

this is the first product from The Ordinary I tried, and I immediately rushed back for more. I noticed a significant brightening effect immediately after the first application, and now I combine with the Resveratrol/Ferulic Acid. I started off using this every night, as the stinging subsided pretty quickly, and I didn't notice any actual irritation at first, but my skin is quite temperamental, I have some recurring eczema patches, and eventually it flared up again. So now I definitely do not use this every night. if you have sensitive skin, this may be okay for you, just use in moderation. otherwise one of the other formulas may be better. Hylamide C Booster is great, and no irritation or stinging but for the price and the strength, this is the ultimate!

Early days but so far so good - 17-09-2018 by

Fair, light freckles, dry skin with some oil in t-section
I started using this product about 2 weeks ago. I apply this after 'the buffet' and with Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%. At first it seemed to irritate my skin leaving it quite red so I tried applying without the Resveratrol and found it was the vitamin c causing the irritation, however I have now incorporated a hydrating mask once or twice a week and its seems to have resolved the irritation. Now that the irritation isn't an issue my skin is starting to look brighter and more plump! A few more weeks of use and I'll have a final opinion but I am enjoying the early results of the product.

Great for pigmentation - 09-09-2018 by

I love this vitamin C serum it is the only thing I have found to reduce my melasma pigmentation from pregnancy I have been using it for a month have already noticed a huge improvement in my overall texture of my skin

Love it despite the texture - 05-09-2018 by

You don't buy this particular vitamin c for the texture or feel of it on your skin. It has a very grainy texture and does cause some tingling on the skin, but it is highly effective. I don't mind as I know it means the product is doing it's job! If I mix it with the Buffet Serum or the Moisturising Factors then the tingling goes away. Will definately continue to use considering it is one of the stronger Vitamin C's in the range.

It works - 05-09-2018 by

This vitamin C works well on my skin compared to other vitamin C oil or serum. Use less than a pea size. It is very powerful.

Effective, but hard to use - 03-09-2018 by

My skin looks amazing after using this, but because of the texture I can only use it at night as the last layer in my routine. It's also too harsh and drying if I'm already using other acids.

Great results, gross texture! - 28-08-2018 by

This product refines and brightens my complexion. The product becomes gritty as you move it around your skin, it can tingle a bit as well - it is worth it for the results! Great price point too!

Great - 27-08-2018 by

Mixed feelings, I've seen a change in my skin, but I'm not the biggest fan of the formula texture, it leaves my skin a little greasy. I'd avoid if you get oily easily.

Leaves My Skin Glowing - 24-08-2018 by

this product is overall awesome. It tingles/stings slightly at first but it makes my skin glow and makes it look really healthy. A little goes a long way so it feels like a steal for the price point. It feels slightly oily so this may not be suited for people with oilier skin types.

not a fan of the texture - 24-08-2018 by

I think I've tried about 4 or 5 different vitamin C formulations from different brands but I really didn't like the texture of this one. It felt slightly oily and grainy. Although it was effective enough I didn't purchase another tube.

slight stinging and gritty feel - 24-08-2018 by

feels gritty and has a every so slight stinging feeling. but works wonders

I like it, seems to be working - 23-08-2018 by

I was unsure about using this range purely because I like to use organic & natural whenever possible.
My skin is maturing with a bit of post acne scarring, occasional hormonal breakout and slightly large pores and so susceptible to blackheads.
Anyway it seemed the natural and organic range I was using had run its course and I'd heard about this range.
I must say I'm quite happy with the results so far and have only been using the product for a few days.

First time using Vit C and yet to see results - 22-08-2018 by

Ive been using this for about a month now and yet to see results. Ive heard it can take up to 6-8 weeks so well see. Its a bit itchy when I first put it on but that goes away after a few mins.

Wanted to love this - 20-08-2018 by

I really wanted to love this! I love Hylamide's victim c serum, and tried this one (same company!) bc its a LOT cheaper. Was hoping to be able to switch over. I did like the tingly feeling it gives you (it makes me feel like its working) and I like that it has HA to combat the drying. But overall, I just like the texture of a serum so much more - this one is more like a light cream, but it's a little grainy.

The Ordinary Vit C - 20-08-2018 by

I love this product. Have just purchased my second bottle. And it is exactly half the price of the same product on a chemist shelf.
I don’t use it every night and have noticed the difference in my skin , especially the small dry, flakey , sun damaged areas on my nose and on my upper chest .. it really has a strong sting on my skin at times that can last about 20 minutes, and if that’s too much I apply a moisturiser over the top of it. The more I use it the less I feel the sting. My skin feels smoother and I think looks a little brighter.
I have 58 year old combination skin with a little sun damage and some pigmentation( I hate to say, “ age spots”) I can honestly say this is a great product for my skin.

There are better products out there for me. - 20-08-2018 by

I inherited a nearly full tube of this after my daughter couldn't use it - it was way too harsh for her sensitive skin. I have much tougher face, so swapped the my Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% for her Vitamin C 23%. Boy, did I lose out on that one! She was thrilled - the AGS12% is much gentler (and works a more slowly). The first time I used the VitC23% it hurt - so much that I washed it off after 10 mins (I've never had to do that before). After that I used much less and buffered it with moisturiser, and after a couple of weeks could use it neat. I found my skin was greasy after application, so only used it at night. Once the tube was finished, I was actually pleased to see the end of it.
I did see fast results from this, but it's not worth the irritation or greasiness. Back to my AGS12%!

Great long term use, can sting initially - 20-08-2018 by

Initially, this product stung and felt grainy but overtime, after using only at night, I felt my skin was less rough and looked brighter. Definitely worth if you are committed to using for at least 4 weeks.

Amazing product! - 20-08-2018 by

Have noticed a visible difference in the redness and pigmentation using this. My skin looks younger and much more supple

I love it!! - 16-08-2018 by

From the very first use, I noticed a difference straight away. My skin was a lot brighter and clearer. Even my first selfie looked amazing afterward. I will definitely continue using this.

An excellent vit c product - 16-08-2018 by

I've heard that I should be incorporating vitamin c into my skin routine. I am wanting to brighten my complexion but wasn't sure what to buy. I love The Ordinary products so it was a no-brainer to try this product. The price point is great too! I used it every morning for 2 months and definitely noticed a change in my complexion. It's now a staple in my routine and I definitely recommend this!

Great for brightening - 16-08-2018 by

This product really helped to brighten up my combination skin when it was looking a bit dull. It stung the first few times that I used it.. but my skin eventually got used to the vitamin C. The texture isn't great for during the day (a bit rough and sandy) - so I keep this for my evening routine and use the 30% in silicone for the day time. However, I prefer the texture of the 23%.

Burns a lot - 16-08-2018 by

Skin type: sensitive and dry
I tried this like the instructions said but it always left a stinging sensation on my skin which made it really sensitive and red.

It would probably suit normal skin types that can tolerate harsh creams. It smells nice and I did notice my skin was brighter but it was too painful to continue to use

Works but a little oily - 13-08-2018 by

I have been testing all Vit C products by the ordinary and although I like this product and can see + feel it working, I'm not sure about the consistency as it feels too oily for me to use it during the day. For this reason, I end up using it on the PM only but a great product overall.

Great value Vit C - 13-08-2018 by

Ive only tried a few Vit C products and this one is by far the cheapest and I would say does the same job as the others. I haven't had any irritation. I prefer to use in the PM because i find the silicone and gritty residue doesn't make my foundation sit well. Good buy if you want a serum for brightening the skin without the side effects of strong Vitamic C. This brand does have a few strengths to choose from. I recommend using the Vitamic C buying guide to help with choosing which strength is best for you.

Not Good - 13-08-2018 by

I would never ever recommend this product due to the following reasons:
1)causes massive breakouts especially small white bumps like closed comedones under the skin and also proper acne pimples
2) very very oily even if you use the size of a pin head
3) need to apply on wet face otherwise will never absorb into skin and even then wont abosrb fully into skin leaves an oilly film all over face.
4) Mixing it with hyaluronic serum by same brand wont give any benefit
5) Pills like crazy with any other product especially inconveneint as it is not moisturising even though it is oily and so you cant apply any moisturiser on top as it will pill.

It does what it claims it does brighten skin but effect is only temporary it goes away as soon as you stop using it and side effects and inconvenience of use is not worth it all

great vit c product - 08-08-2018 by

I use this product on my neck to even out my skin tone. It has a gritty texture and stings for quite a while after applying. Been using it for a week but I haven't noticed any difference in skin tone. Perhaps it will take some more time for the results to show. My only gripe with this product is that it takes quite for awhile to be absorbed into my skin.

Definitely feel it working! - 02-08-2018 by

I didn't think I was going to like this when I first used it. As others have said, it's gritty - I thought maybe I'd confused it for an exfoliator, but that seems to disappear as it works into the skin. The tingling.... It takes a bit of getting used to. It's pretty intense, almost like tiny pin pricks over the face. The first time I used it, I put way too much on my face and it really stung. The second time I only put a pea sized amount and mixed in a few drops of my other oils I use. This seemed to help and makes it less irritating and the sensation didn't last as long either. On the plus side, my skin feels amazing after using it and definitely looks brighter and healthier. It's too early to tell if it's making a difference to my fine lines, but I'm hoping it will! My skin is on the dry side but this feels very nourishing and isn't drying on my skin. If you can stick out the initial discomfort, it's worth it!

A must have! - 31-07-2018 by

I use this product after I exfoliate my skin with clarisonic and it is amazing! It stings a little and a little product goes a long way. It makes my skin supple and plump. I highly recommend this product.

Good but too grainy for everyday comfort - 30-07-2018 by

This is an alright product, but still to grainy, use only on days where in you know you need to put make up I thought I could use it underneath my make up but no.

LOVE THIS - 27-07-2018 by

I am in love with this product. It is fantastic at evening my skintone and texture. It tingles a little, which is exactly what activated Vit-C should do! :) Love this.

Great product - 27-07-2018 by

After using this product consistently for a few weeks, I have definitely noticed my skin is clearer and brighter. It does not sting my sensitive skin. I use it before bed and wake up with vibrant hydrated skin. Love this product, would recommend it for anyone!

Brightened dull skin - 25-07-2018 by

I initially did not like this product and didnt feel like it did anything, however now after about 6 months of intermittent use (once or twice a week), I can say I actually LOVE it. It is grainy and does sting the heck out of your face when you first use it, but if you persevere through that, I felt like my skin became so much clearer, brighter and just overall more vibrant the next day. I usually use it at night after washing, toning and using the 100% plant derived squalane oil, applying a small about to my fingertips, rubbing them together then patting into my face.
It does feel gainy at the start, but it eventually does soak in to your skin. I also dont use any other serums on the nights I use this to prevent any reactions, and I make sure to SPF in the mornings.

Stung - 20-07-2018 by

I put this on my slightly broken skin to reduce the appearance of dark spots. I have olive skin so when my skin heals
It has quite dark scars. It really stung when applied to my skin it brought tears to my eyes, it didn’t absorb into my skin and later that night I ended up scratching of clumpy layers of it as it kind of clumped together. It clumps worse if you have another skin product on your face. Yet somehow I would say my skin wasn’t any worse in the morning.

Product review - 18-07-2018 by

Didn’t really do much for my skin and the tingling sensation remained quite a while after first applying. Skin doesn’t appear brighter since using it 3 months ago

Affordable Vitamin C - 16-07-2018 by

I have been through several tubes of this serum. When I first purchased it I thought it was revolting- gritty, oily and stung. But after persevering with it, I have figured out the best way to apply it to my dryish skin.
After cleansing and spritzing distilled water on my face, I apply an HA serum, Matrixyl Serum and then smear on a pea-sized amount of Vitamin C. That way it doesn't sting and it doesn't feel quite so gritty. I finish it off with a decent amount of moisturiser and my usual 2-layers of sunscreen and my face is happy for the day.
It's an incredibly basic formula, but because it's both accessible and affordable as well efficacious I will continue to purchase it and use.

I know its good but too tingly for me - 12-07-2018 by

I love active products and the tingle is normally a good sign. I find the tingling too much for me. As a result I prefer other of TO products to this.
While I'm sure if I stuck with this for longer, the tingle would stop. Problem is there are way too many other amazing TO products to use instead!

Value and results - 12-07-2018 by

I’ve only been using this for a few days but I’m impressed. The texture is slightly gritty but not uncomfortable. You only need a tiny bit of product. My skin feels a bit smoother and brighter already.

As usual a great product by the Ordinary - 12-07-2018 by

I have tried four of The Ordinary products now and I have loved them all. I love the tingly feeling and my face look so amazing the morning after my first application.

Not for me.. - 09-07-2018 by

I have combination dehydrated skin and I needed a product to help with my pigmentation. When I first tried this, my impression was that it was very grainy and it was annoying to apply. I felt tingling on my skin and each time I tried it after that, I dreaded the tingling. Eventually, I stopped using it and moved onto a different vit c without tingling.
It didn't do much to my skin after a months use consistantly so in this case, I do not reccomend.

Feels horrible - 09-07-2018 by

This is so hard to bare with on your skin. It feels like an oily greasy combo to the extent of feeling like you’ve just applied to chapstick straight to your whole head, and then it has this gritty quality about it too. It’s really horrible. Put the product on last and feel like you need to shower again

Love this product - 09-07-2018 by

Yes is does sting when first applied, best to use a small amount. Like all other The Ordinary products I have tried it does what it claims

No significant improvements to the skin - 08-07-2018 by

This didn't cause any irritation to my sensitive skin but improvements to skin tone or texture were not significant after 3 months of daily use.

Not for sensitive skin - 06-07-2018 by

This product is probably too strong for my sensitive skin, does feel almost like a burning and irritates the skin for short period of time. Unfortunately it just does not suit to me. Also I will not recommend this under the make-up as the foundation does not sit on it very well, at least with using silicone based primer.

Works well on fading my freckles - 02-07-2018 by

I can't live without my niacinamide as I have bad enlarged pores, but this baby works so well I sacrifice every third night to it. It stings when you first start out, but in a good way ;)

Order this today - 29-06-2018 by

I am in my 40’s and have just started to use this product. Instantly I noticed fantastic results to the texture , plumpness and brightness of my skin.. it was unbelievable... I should of purchased this years ago .. best product I have ever used

Works Instantly - 28-06-2018 by

I started using this product two weeks ago and my skin looks amazing. I had really bad acne scars before and they're all fading so much! It definitely burns a little and is a little annoying to go to bed in but worth it.

Excellent! - 27-06-2018 by

I get a slight tingly sensation when I use this product, it can be quite painful over sensitive areas (though I can get around this by mixing it with moisturising cream). I am mid 20s and started using this to slow down the signs of aging. It works excellently with Retinoid. My skin is so smooth after use. I can visible see dead skin peeling off my face. It's quite greasy though and should be used last. I've also noticed my skin is brighter!

really tried to love this product - 27-06-2018 by

I think this is an effective product. I did notice an improvement in my "glow", but I just couldn't get past the texture. it feels gritty going on, and just leaves an unpleasant feeling on your face. if you can handle that, you will like this product. definitely a no go for sensitive skin.

Not for me - 26-06-2018 by

I try this product so many times, but always with the same result , not for my skin.

Great - 25-06-2018 by

Stings a little if you rub it in but if you pat it in it doesn't sting at all. Noticed a massive difference in my skin's brightness and love the texture/consistency.

Great after derma rolling - 25-06-2018 by

I'm in my 60's. I use this on my body after derma rolling as it doesn't contain water. It's a bit greasy and sometimes stings a little but not too much. i haven't used it on my face as I use skinstitute vit c powder. It is very economical. I don't really have a problem with the grittiness- I've bought loads of this. The only criticism is it yellows my nails a bit like all vitC. I am trying to keep clear nail polish on to see if that prevents it. I will keep buying it.

Not for me - 25-06-2018 by

I wanted this to work! Unfortunately my skin just hated it. I waited for the tingly feelings to disappear but even when i mixed it with a moisturiser, it continued to feel like it was burning my skin.

Definitely not for me! - 21-06-2018 by

I was so excited to try this product after reading many great reviews. Unfortunately for me after using this for 2 weeks I had to stop and ended up giving it to a friend! She said it worked well on her skin however my skin is quite dry and very sensitive so this product was a bit too intense for my skin. I have several other products from The Ordinary which have done wonders for my skin so surprised this didn't work wonders!

Caused blackheads and whiteheads - 21-06-2018 by

I really hope to have a great experience with this product given the reviews (and the price!) to treat my post pregnancy pigmentation and lack of even skintone. However it did not agree with my skin.
It stung my skin (I have mild rosacea and it can be sensitive) every time I applied it and led to the development of blackheads (which I can't remember every really having!) and small whitehead like bumps all over my cheeks.
I did not notice any brightening effects and as such I stopped using it (and my skin cleared up back to normal).
I love the idea of The Ordinary for affordable skincare however I have yet to find one product that is effective and agrees with my skin.

better products in the range. - 21-06-2018 by

This stings my face (I'm not sensitive ) and its a grainy texture that doesn't feel nice. prefer the bit c serum though lower concentration.

A bit too intense for sensitive skin - 20-06-2018 by

I've just finished using this entire cream and even after almost 3 months of using it I still cannot apply the cream directly onto my skin as it will burn and irritate the skin a bit too much to be comfortable.

Normally I use it mixed in with The Ordinary's Rosehip Oil which also helps dissolve the vitamin c and get rid of the 'granulated' texture of the cream. It does brighten the face but I would opt for a serum or another vitamin c cream over this in the future.

Great product, texture could do with improvement - 19-06-2018 by

This product has enhanced the radiation of my skin. I notice a glow when the day after using it. I use this product at night time every 2-3 days. The texture is a bit grainy and therefore I would not recommend using it during the day or under makeup.

Mixed feelings ~ - 19-06-2018 by

I have been trying to use this product for months now but the tingling and gritty texture just puts me off. Accidently swiped this over a newly budding pimple and had to quickly stick on a pimple patch in case it grew bigger. Not sure how good the brightening effect of this is on the skin because it stings too much when I apply it therefore I haven’t been using this regularly to see results. If you have less sensitive skin and can bear the stinging then you will probably see better results than me

Amazing product that instantly brightens skin - 15-06-2018 by

I found that this product really helped to fade my stubborn post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It also helped brighten my skin. The texture took some time to get used to due to the grittiness but overall it improved my skin tone

Instant results - 14-06-2018 by

This is a super effective product! my skin is radiating from using it.
It is strong but gentle enough to use everyday if need be. I use it twice a week. It has amazing results so far and it's only been 2 weeks!

So clear - 12-06-2018 by

This would have to be my favorite skincare product at the moment. I've started using it every night and my acne and sun spots have dramatically improved. Next day my skin looks brighter and younger and so glowy. It does sting if you have sensitive skin or any broken skin but does subside rather quickly. I will certainly purchase again.

Not for oily skin - 12-06-2018 by

This is a cheap and simple vitamin C cream. I used it for a few weeks before trying Hylamide C25 and not looking back. The 23% Suspension did really help to fade some pigmentation from acne, and just generally made my skin look 'brighter'. I just didn't like the texture on my oily skin - it's fairly thick and moisturising, and never completely sunk in or stopped looking shiny. The issue with graininess that some people have reported only seems to happen if you rub it in - if you gently pat it in there's no problem. It can sting slightly if you regularly use chemical exfoliants (BHA/AHAs) like salicylic, lactic or glycolic acids, but the stinging can be reduced by patting in an oil or unfragranced moisturiser on top.

Nice formula - 11-06-2018 by

I love the formula of this. Very different to over vitamin c serums. TO has so many formulations for Vit C so will definitely try some others. It comes out as a milky cream/gel and spreads over the face like an oil/serum ( hard to describe) Yes it has some grittiness to it but nothing major. I only use this overnight as the texture and finish will not work well with layering. TO are big on layering skin care but I prefer to use 1-2 times a week. It can sting for a minute upon application but it subsides. I actually mixed this with half a scoop of the Ascorbic Acid powder and it stung! Like really stung but that combination gives me such a glowing smooth complexion the next day. I can’t use this all the time because it breaks me out - Coconut Alkanes - is the culprit. ( also in serum foundation)

Great for pigmentation and base! - 11-06-2018 by

Having oily skin, this product was amazing for mattifying my skin for an under makeup base. Applying it on my skin where I have enlarged pores, I definitely noticed a difference with my make ups staying power. Also over time I noticed my overall pigmentation reduced and any acne scaring was also cleared up. I did feel a slight tingly sensation when applying so might need to dilute if you have sensitive skin

Amazing - 05-06-2018 by

My husband accidentally purchased this for me instead of the niacinamide serum so I began using this instead for my dry normal acne skin. At first I noticed how tingly it felt and slight stinging but read that it was normal, after a week or so of using this I can see dramatic results my skin is smoother, my post inflammatory hyper pigmentation is clearing up faster and I’m not getting the clusters of hormonal pimples around the jawline. I will be purchasing this again once I finish the tube

works great but pills - 04-06-2018 by

This product works well for vitamin C, i use it after my serum and moisturiser just before I go to bed. Only issue is I cant really rub it in cause it pills all the other products underneath, so I have to sort of like push it in with my hands. The product is so cheap though that I dont mind and the packaging is really easy and convenient.

Unsure - 02-06-2018 by

The jury is still out on this one. I've find the product pills when layered over other products, even when I've waited until they're fully absorbed. I don't find it to be gritty like others have mentioned, but it is quite oily so between this and the pilling so I can only use it at night. I'm not sure I've really noticed too much of a brightening effect, or much difference in my acne scarring as yet but I will persevere and finish the tube.

Not for me - 01-06-2018 by

I have normal skin which can be a bit dehydrated. I am in my early 30s so tried this for its brightening properties, particularly as I was preparing my skin for being a bridesmaid. Unfortunately after a short time of using I started developing cystic acne. Once I ceased use this did start to improve, and it was the only product in my skincare regime that was new. I think this is one of those products that probably works great for some people, but my skin was too sensitive for it (even though I don't consider myself to have sensitive skin, I have had reactions to other products in the past). I passed it onto a friend (with full disclosure of my experience) so hoping it will work for her!

Clarity with a capital C - 31-05-2018 by

I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to jump on the Vitamin C bandwagon.
But, I'm so glad I did. Although the texture takes a little getting used to (it's quite gritty, which I actually don't mind and I believe there are other Vit C products in the range that are just effective and less gritty), the benefits have been noticeable within about a week.
I only use this every third night, rotating between my The Ordinary Retinoid and a face oil on the other nights. I massage the serum in, using Meghan Markle's aesthetician's face sculpting technique (it actually makes a difference!) and the results the following morning are very noticeable. My skin is smoother, tighter and brighter than it has been in a long time.
As always, full marks to The Ordinary for being a committed cruelty-free brand.
Would pay twice the price for this little gem.

Amazing product that actually works - 29-05-2018 by

I have purchased this Vit C a few days ago together with the Buffet (another best seller from The Ordinary) which is the perfect combo as recommended by Adorebeauty specialists (thank you again!)
AND I love it, it tingles for a few seconds which is sign that it works (in my brain) AND
my skin looks more juicy and bright.

The texture is creamy and perfume free which I prefer for skin care.
Amazing product for the price.

Love it - 27-05-2018 by

Im a big fan of this product. I have found that it has helped even out my pigmentation from pregnancy and also with my uneven skin tone. Ill aply it at night time after the buffet and in the morning i love to look in the mirror and take note of how much smoother my skin is looking. Its visibly plumper and im happy to go without makeup now days as i have really noticed the changes. I alternate with the retinol 2% and that is also doing wonders for my skin. You cant use the two products at the same time as they counteract each other

Fantastic product - 25-05-2018 by

This product is great especially if you're new to actives and Vitamin C products.

I have combination skin which is acne-prone, and this has kept all my breakouts at bay. I have acne scarring and a scar on my chin where I split my chin open and this product has worked WONDERS in clearing those up! My acne scars are visibly shallower and I cannot believe how much my scar has smoothed out and how its discolouration has gone away.

It does sting a bit on application, especially if you have sensitive areas with pre-existing pimples or acne, and it can feel itchy, but it does settle down after a bit.

I don't mind the grittiness but this product does pill with a lot of my makeup products (most of my makeup is water-based and this has squalene in it) so I just use it at night time.

I've been alternating between using this and TO retinoid emulsion at bedtime and my skin has never looked so clear and glowing.

Ok - 18-05-2018 by

One of the first products I used, I feel as though it worked although I havnt bought another one ! I don't mind the grittiness but found it a bit greasy so only used when I wasn't going out

Better for drier skins? - 17-05-2018 by

This is the only product of The Ordinary's that I've had an issue with. I don't mind the texture and the 'grittiness' that other customers have pointed out, but it broke me out in little white pimples on my chin when I used it for the first time (mixed with The Ordinary's Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%).

Given that I haven't had a reaction to the Resveratrol + Ferulic Acid when I've used it in the past, I can only assume it was the Vit C Suspension. (The former is oil-free, whereas the Suspension contains squalane as the 2nd ingredient). It's all a bit of a mystery, as I haven't necessarily had problems with squalane in the past... but considering I don't "break out" at all anymore, I reluctantly have to conclude this product was the culprit.

I think I'll try mixing L-Ascorbic Acid Powder directly with the Resveratrol + Ferulic Acid and see if I have better luck that way. Oh well, considering that I've never had a problem with a single other product by The Ordinary, they'll still doing pretty well by me!

You can feel it working - 16-05-2018 by

It did sting the first few times I used it, but after a few uses it doesn't sting but you can feel it. I had to do some googling to figure out how to properly use this cream, as no matter what I did it would cause pilling with other serums or it just would sit on top of my skin. What has worked for me is mixing a very small amount of this Vit C with my normal HA, and then it sinks into the skin beautifully. It's a bit too early to tell if it's made a significant difference, but I'm happy to keep trying it!

LOVE - 16-05-2018 by

This Vitamin C serum is beyond amazing, I apply this at night and when I wake up my skin is glowing and also very hydrated. It is a gritty formula so I apply this as the last step in my skincare routine as anything applied on top pills for me. I am on my second tube and will continue to repurchase this.

Great price point and works! - 12-05-2018 by

I really liked this, as other reviews states, yep, it does sting, but it's not that bad really and it does have an unusual texture, it's not something I would ever use during the day underneath makeup, but I would put it on after my nighttime routine and go to bed, I always woke with nice, supple skin!

Not great for me, but worth a try for the price! - 11-05-2018 by

This product wasn't a winner for me, but if you're looking for a Vitamin C product it's worth seeing if this will work for you as it's so affordable!

I have normal-sensitive skin with a bit of redness and some light scarring from previous acne. I have quite reactive skin (goes pink for a minute even after cleansing with Cetaphil) so was wary trying this. Though I went a bit pink after my first use (as expected) I didn't experience any tingling or irritation. Allthough there may have been a bit of brightening on my skin which was nice, I did start getting small under the skin pimples in the areas I'd been applying it to. Not sure if it was because of this product, but I've stopped using it anyway. I'm now using other The Ordinary products to brighten and am happier with the results.

Oily - 08-05-2018 by

I'm a huge fan of Vitamin C treatments coz they get rid of my acne scars quickly. I decided to try this one since its more affordable. I was so hopeful but when i applied it, it felt slightly grainy and felt very oily after. I wish it wasn't oily. A little goes a long way. I'm patting tiny amounts on my scars and it seems to feel slightly better. Unfortunately the disappearance of scars take a long time. A bit of patience and method is required.

Good product for the price! - 08-05-2018 by

It has a grainy, gritty feeling to it when you apply and it then sits on the skin a tad shiny/oily. I only use it at night before bed and I find in the mornings my skin is tighter. Have yet to see it make it brighter but I am brown skinned (Indian heritage) and after years of acne it has helped to smooth my skin quickly in the space of using over a week.

Great! But... - 08-05-2018 by

I use this product in conjunction with the Hyaluronic serum and The Buffet and I must say, they are GREAT products. However, after 7 days of using the three products at night (post-cleansing + every 3rd night exfoliating), I woke up one morning with random, very noticeable, extra black heads. These blackheads looked different to the ones I normally get and were very easy to extract --after speaking to my dermatologist, she said that this is my skins reaction to a new regime and is completely normal and not to worry.

After 5 weeks of my skin cells rejuvenating and getting used to the new products, I have visibly softer and healthier skin. Definitely recommend!

Vit c at it's best - 07-05-2018 by

This is one of the more difficult TO products for me. I am not completely sold on vit c for my skin. In saying that, i am currently trying out on of their other vit c products. This one i still come back to, particularly if i am feeling dry. 1. It is gritty. A vit c powder in a suspension so that is to be expected so no faulting that. I beleive thos is the highest concentration of vit c they have (pre mixed anyway as the new powder sounds great and you can create your own) anyway, i played around with the application and i apply immediately after matrixal, argeriline and buffet as i find if I'm still a bit damp it absorbes easier. I use a modest amount and fin that is less greasy. I also occasionally spray a termal water or the alpha-h moisture mist after to help it absorb. For my oily combo skin it is just too oily for day use and too hard to use under make up due to pilling. Initially i did have a gew pimples and i attribute that to a purge which can happen with any active. I do enjoy the sting of application, as many who love actives learn to love. All in all it is a quality product at a crazy great price. I only took a star off as it is fiddly and temperamental on application, feel and is hard to fit into a routine with ease because of this. I am successfully using the gluco 12% in the mornings but feel it is less effective in terms of strength.

Good value - 07-05-2018 by

I’ve been using this product for the last 2 weeks and my skin has already brightened (which is why I was interested in that product in the first place).
No tingling sensation for my part.

Great Product - 07-05-2018 by

I love this brand! everything I've tried thus far (a lot) has worked.
This Vitamin C once applied, has a mild tingle, but absorbs well. I've very sensitive, acne prone (hormonal, post pregnancy) skin. Ive many scars left as a result. I noticed results within the week. The scars certainly have diminished and overall when using this product, my skin appears brighter. I think I overuse products in general and need to remember that more is not always good; so a little goes a long way! I will keep coming back to this product.

It's alright! - 30-04-2018 by

I have dry skin but sometimes it gets oily, VERY acne prone, & prone to scarring.
I find this product stings when i put it on but it subsides after a while. The product doesn't really absorb in properly though. After a while, I still felt that sting (thought it doenst hurt anymore). It would take approx 20 minutes for the product to fully sink into my skin, which is a bit too long for me.

HOwever, the product really brightened my skin & after using it for a few days, I see my dullness gone, acne marks fading.

Be careful - 29-04-2018 by

I've been using this product for about 2 months and I can't say I've really noticed anything dramatically different with my face. This review is more a warning. I don't have particularly sensitive skin so using it on my face tingles but I was ok with it. Last night I accidentally used a little too much so I pulled the product down onto my neck and across my chest. Almost immediately my neck and chest started to really sting to the point where I had to remove the product. Within 10 minutes I had a chemical burn in the crease of my neck like I had been garotted and on my chest I had raised little bumps that look like sunburn and felt like a rash. It was also very itchy. I imagine it's going to take some time to go away. I really want to love this product but so far I don't think it has done much for me and I won't be repurchasing it.

Good for the price - 19-04-2018 by

This product is good for the price, I have been using it for a few weeks and have noticed my skin tone is slowly becoming more even. However, it is quite strong, so sometimes when my face is particularly dry or if I have eczema, I try not to use this product until my skin has been restored.

Stings but worth the pain :) - 18-04-2018 by

This is more of a vitamin C lotion that you can use in your AM or PM routine. It took me a while to get used to the stinging but the effects of using this has been great. I love how it improves your overall skin and works actively to fade the scars.

This is a true winner from the ordinary. I will continue to use this product :) My only recommendation is to sell this in a bottle and not tube due to the watery texture.

Skin looks great - 12-04-2018 by

I've only been using this product for 3 days, however I have already seen results. My skin is clearer & more glowy. I am not sure about the smell though. I seem to get quite a heavy metal smell residual on my hands when I use it. My MUA friend suggested I mix it with my nightly moisturiser to avoid this & since then it's been less of a smell. I'd still recommend it though (I just use it at night pre-bed). I don't find it gritty at all & it doesn't sting my skin.

Great for sun damage - 12-04-2018 by

We never used sun screen when I was growing up and this had a detrimental effect on my skin. I have heard so often that Vitamin C is brilliant for sun damage/pigmentation issues and this product activates rapidly on the skin and has already started to fade some of my pigmented areas.
I would certainly recommend it.

What a difference - 11-04-2018 by

Since using this i can tell a big difference in my skin, its helping me with my uneven tones and general signs of aging. When applying it does cause my skin to go tingly but that goes away within in minuets and then the results start to appear. I use this each night and is the last product i apply to my skin. It does cause my skin to get a bit oily and as i already have oily skin i apply this right before i go to bed BUT the results in the morning are incredible.

I LOVE THIS STUFF! - 11-04-2018 by

This cream is quite intense! I noticed slight irritation around my nose which has constant redness anyway. But used sparingly and on forehead lines and under eye lines, this stuff is INCREDIBLE!!! It literally plumps out frown lines over night! And they stay away!!! I use this under make up and it gives my under eye area an incredible plump sheen that works as an amazing primer or night time cream!

Good for scars, not good for active breakouts - 03-04-2018 by

I recommend that treating scarring with a Vit C and sunscreen in the daytime is a must after years of having acne, but it is a bit irritation to put on which is normal for this chemical. You cannot use it with Nicamide so use this at night and nicamide in the morning to prevent pores/sebum causing acne.

Takes a while to absorb - 29-03-2018 by

Using the product I have found that it takes quite a while to absorb and the oily texture of it can make it difficult to use in the morning if you are planning on putting make up over the top. Would continue to use but will consider a water based vitamin product next time.
