Shop Skincare for Combination Skin

Combination skin is probably the most widely misunderstood skin type. There is a lot of misinformation out there - and oddly, many products that truly cater to combination skin. Yet, combination skin is one of the most common skin types.

How do you know if you have combination skin?

Combination skin can manifest in a few different ways - the classic is usually a t-zone (forehead, nose and chin) that can become oily throughout the day, while the rest of your face is normal or dehydrated. Combination skin is completely normal.

You also may or may not experience breakouts - they’re not inherently a part of combination skin though. If you do have them, how you treat them will depend on where they are on your skin.

What's the best routine for combination skin?

Just like every other skin type, it’s important that your combination skin is properly protected and hydrated. The most basic routine will be a cleanser and moisturiser, with a face sunscreen for daytime. We recommend you add a serum too however, as it doesn’t add much time at all to your routine, and will mean that you’re treating your main skincare concerns.

Does combination skin need a moisturiser, even where it’s prone to oil?

Yes! The same advice that we would give to someone who is prone to oil all over, also applies to someone with combination skin. Your skin will produce oil when it feels dehydrated to try and protect itself. In fact, you can actually balance your oil levels over time by ensuring that your skin is adequately hydrated.

Skincare has come a long way in the last few decades - it’s now easier than ever to find a nice lightweight moisturiser that will provide the hydration your skin needs, without adding richness where your skin doesn’t need it.

What's the best moisturiser for combination skin?

There are a lot of great options for combination skin, no matter what price range you prefer to shop from.

You're looking for something lightweight, that wont make you shiny by the end of day, but will still prevent dehydration.

Good basic serum.

I have been using this since more than a year now. I felt it was a good serum, because this was the only one affordable and the one I ever used. But I tried an alternate brand and am surprised by the results of the other brand: Truely life saving. If you want a light serum this is a good choice but if you need something to change your super dry skin would recommend La Roche Posey.

Meh

This is an okay lip balm. It’s Certainly nothing to write home about. The scent gives me some kind of flashback to cheap sour lollies at the corner store when I was a kid which is not something I’m after in a lip product. Definitely don’t think it does anything amazing in terms of conditioning or moisturising but it does the job I guess. I honestly wouldn’t waste $18 on this when you can get other...
