Skincare for Dry Skin

Skincare for Dry Skin

Does your skin feel tight and uncomfortable after you leave the shower, or is your skin dull or prone to congestion? You may have a dry skin type. People with this skin type may easily develop flakiness and rough skin. Dry skin can lead to compromised skin as well, affecting your skin barrier and leaving you prone to imperfections. Well hydrated skin is the key to beautiful skin - let us show you our favourite picks.

There are also environmental factors that lead to having dry skin, such as sun or wind damage, cold temperatures, low humidity. Maybe you're ageing, or maybe you've started a new medication. You may be over-washing your skin with harsh cleansers or antibacterial products. Keep your skin hydrated and your natural skin barrier intact with gentle, effective and hydrating products.

A gentle cleanser that doesn't strip the skin is crucial to maintaining your skin's natural moisture levels. Try a micellar cleanser to remove your makeup, followed by a creamy or milky cleanser to ensure that you're not stripping your skin.

Despite the temptation that flaking or rough patches provides, it's important that you don't use a harsh physical exfoliator - dry skin is synonymous with compromised skin. By scrubbing too hard, you may be risking your skin's defences against bad bacteria. Try a chemical exfoliator instead! A product with AHAs (such as lactic acid) or BHAs (such as salicylic acid) will leave your skin glowing, looking less dull.

Nothing against vegans or anything, I’ve just tried a few natural, organic and vegan mascaras in my time that haven’t impressed me all that much. So when Inika’s Bold Lash Mascara landed on my desk, I wasn’t expecting it to shoot to the top of my favourite mascaras list. As it turns out, it did […]

If you didn’t think primer was a complicated enough subject already, turns out you might’ve been applying your primer the wrong way this whole time. See, you might’ve thought applying it with a brush was best practice (and the germophobe in me says more hygienic too), but most makeup artists will tell you otherwise. According […]

For anyone else who has little to no upper body strength (you should see me try to do a push up), this tool eliminates that classic strained shoulder and wrist you get from trying to curl your own hair. What I didn’t realise when I cut my hair shorter was that using my wand was […]
