Cleansing oils are a must-have ingredient in your beauty regimen. Popular all over the world, oil cleansers get rid of any makeup, dirt and bad oils on your face that water-based cleansers just can’t.

Oil cleansers not only purify your skin, they nourish your complexion too, smoothing the appearance of wrinkles and delivering key nutrients and antioxidants to keep your skin looking radiant.

Why will I love a cleansing oil? And what is a cleansing oil?

If you're someone who often feels tight and dry after cleansing your face, there's a better way! Oil cleansers, such as Cosmedix’s Purity Solution Deep Cleansing Oil leaves your skin feeling balanced, helping to break down dirt, grime, and makeup from the day, but without stripping your skin of its natural oils - after all, oils can actually be super helpful on your skin

Oil cleansers often include extracts like Melia Azadirachta (Neem extract) to remove excess oil, makeup, sunscreen, and environmental impurities while Argan, Moringa and Olive Oils deliver key nutrients and antioxidants to keep skin clear and radiant.

What is the best cleansing oil?

The best oil cleanser is the one that suits your unique skin concerns and budgets - but if you're looking for a quick-and-dirty recommendation, we have those in spades! If you’re on the hunt for a facial cleanser, Dermalogica PreCleanse is one of our most popular options and works well both on its own, and as part of a two-step cleansing routine. Medik8 Lipid-Balance Cleansing Oil is another great option thanks to its Vitamin E, Safflower Oil and Omega 6 ingredients for a truly balanced complexion. Feeling a little bougier? SK-II Facial Treatment Cleansing Oil is a heavenly silky option that also includes the brand's signature ingredient, Pitera, for even more hydration and protective powers from environmental damage.

How do I use a cleansing oil as part of a double cleansing routine?

Oil or balm cleansers are ideal for the first step of your double cleansing routine, because they're particularly adept at breaking down the oils in makeup and SPF - oil breaks down oil!  So while you may love using your cleansing oil on its own, consider it as the first step of your double cleansing routine and follow it up with a gel, milk or foaming cleanser for a truly squeaky-clean complexion!

For these reasons, an oil cleanser is great on its own or as part of your double cleanse routine, to complement your regular cleansing gel, foam or exfoliating cleanser.

Good product

Does what it says on the jar. Not sure its any better than a traditional liquid oil based remover but it does remove the need for cotton rounds.

On par with the more expensive versions

I love the Clinique Take the Day Off balm and I wanted to trial something as a less expensive version. I would say this is on par. It feels luxurious on your skin and thoroughly removes makeup.

Good for a 'pre cleanse'

I received a sample of this, it's quite greasy and the texture is only suitable for a pre-cleanse, as the product is designed. It felt a bit too oily for my liking, and the price is too expensive for a cleanser for me.
