New to the eye cream game? Welcome!

Eye creams are everywhere and seem to be a staple in so many people’s routines.

We’re here to tell you whats what when it comes to eye cream for beginners, so you’ll feel more knowledgeable and ready to add one to your routine.

Keep reading to meet a few of our favourite eye creams and serums too.

Firstly, What Does Eye Cream Do?

Eye creams are formulated with intensely hydrating or reparative ingredients to target signs of ageing in the area—the more obvious signs being fine lines, dullness, and thin, crepey skin.

But why use eye cream in the first place? Well, there are two opposing reasons.

  • Some experts believe the supercharged ingredients in such formulas can really improve the quality of your skin.

  • On the other hand, eye creams remind us to look after this delicate area in the first place.

In other words, by applying a dedicated product, you’re more likely to pay special attention to the eye area, rather than hope your moisturiser is doing a good enough job.

But Really, Do Eye Creams Work?

As with anything in your skincare regimen, consistent use can help improve the look and health of your skin.

Depending on the eye formula you pick, you may notice an increase in luminosity or a decrease in dark circles.

Or, you might just see that the area becomes smoother and fine lines are less noticeable.

Everyone’s skin different, as are all formulas.

Getting good results is a matter of experimenting and figuring out what works best.

Is There a Difference Between Eye Cream and Face Cream?

For the most part, yes. Eye creams are typically balmier or richer than face creams are.

If you’re not a fan of thicker textures, you might prefer to use an eye serum, which feels lightweight and silky.

What’s the Difference Between Eye Cream and Eye Serum?

The difference between eye cream and eye serum is the texture.

Eye creams are usually thicker and balmier, whereas eye serums are silkier and finer in texture.

But wait; what does an eye serum do? Well, it works exactly the same as an eye cream does, but a serum simply has a runnier texture.

How To Apply Eye Cream

The best tip for applying eye cream is to always be gentle. Remember, this is the most delicate skin on your face!

The ring finger is weaker, so it creates less pressure when you apply products to the delicate eye area.

  • First, use your ring finger to dab the product around your eyes.

  • Then massage the cream or serum in with small, sweeping motions.

If you’re wondering how often you should use eye cream, we highly recommend using it at least every day.

If the product doesn’t contain retinol, you may choose to apply your eye cream both morning and night for maximum benefits.

Eye creams with retinol should be applied at night as they can make the skin more sensitive to sun exposure. Always use a highly effective sunscreen in the morning and reapply throughout the day .Also, its important to remember, sunscreen is only one part of sun protection, prolonged high-risk sun exposure should be avoided and frequent re-application or use in accordance with directions is required for effective sun protection
