Why This Is A Makeup Artist's Dream Eyeshadow Palette

With my Europe trip looming, I had to face the dreaded task of packing. Is it just me, or is packing the worst part of travelling? Clothes are easy, it’s selecting my makeup and skincare that I struggle with. It’s like asking someone to choose their favourite child. You just can’t - it feels wrong on so many levels.

But alas, it had to be done, and instead of lugging over 150 eye shadows, I challenged myself to choose ONE palette only. So, how did I select my favourite child, you ask?

The Selection Process:

I needed something versatile enough to be subtle and natural, but also had the ability to go bold and make a statement. That's how I landed on M·A·C's Art Library FlameBoyant palette. This palette is what dreams are made of.

Warm, pigmented colours with a combination of matte and shimmery finishes. Apart from the ridiculously creamy, blendable formulas, the colours in this palette are A-MAZING. With the brick/orange shades being all the rage at the moment, this colour palette is #trending

The stand out shade is FlameBoyant, hence the palette name. This rich red tone takes any look to the next level. At first glance, the shade may look overwhelming, but as they say, don’t judge a book by its cover. Live a little and experiment - I have no doubt you'll be rocking this colour in no time.

My Expert Tips For Using This Palette:

I decided to play around with this palette and show you exactly how versatile it is. You can find my hot tips for customising each of the looks featured below.

1. Traditionally, cut-crease shades are matte. However, don’t be scared to try a shimmery shade in the cut crease. I’ve used Fan the Flames combined with Rule

2. Blend, blend, blend. It’s super important to ensure you have a shade between your darkest shadow and your skin tone to allow for a seamless transition. Shades Samoa Silk, Amber Lights, Dada Issues, Rule, and Dali Wood are all great options.

3. If you’re keen to rock Flame-boyant, adding a matte shade into the cut-crease helps to define the eye. I’ve used Embark

4. To create a bold liner, spray your angle brush with M.A.C Cosmetics Prep + Prime Fix+ and dip your damp brush into the eyeshadow. This will transform the powder into a liquid liner.
